Relationships between growth-related traits with carcass and meat quality traits in Spanish Assaf suckling lambs

چکیده
Suckling lamb meat is a relevant product in Mediterranean European dairy sheep farms, and the breed Spanish Assaf widely extended through Iberian Peninsula. Knowledge of influence birth body weight (bBW) growth rate on suckling carcass quality scarce, but useful for breeding optimisation homogeneity. In turn, these growth-related traits lambs might be affected by dietary restrictions their dams. this study, 34 male born from two groups ewes that had been fed diets with different protein levels when they were prepubertal female (17 per group) analysed. After birth, ad libitum milk replacer until sacrifice (10–12.5 kg live weight). The evaluated carcasses compactness, fatness jointing, composition, colour, texture oxidative stability, fatty acid profile. dam group did not show significant effects characteristics or traits. bBW factor showed negative effect leg subcutaneous positive forequarter shoulder percentages carcass. also resulted increased moisture, lipid oxidation n-3 FA content (lowering n-6/n-3 ratio) meat. showing very low average daily gain (ADG) tended to present quality, i.e., higher bone percentage loin muscle fat compared those high ADG. Further studies are needed confirm explain mechanisms reported here ADG

Effect of feeding sugarcane press mud on carcass traits and meat quality characteristics of lambs
AIM To explore the possibilities of feeding unconventional agro-industrial byproduct for livestock production. Sugarcane press-mud (SPM), is a byproduct derived from sugarcane industry, which is rich in protein as well as minerals. The effects of dietary inclusion of SPM at different levels on the carcass characteristics of lambs were evaluated. MATERIALS AND METHODS SPM was incorporated in c...
متن کاملLongissimus muscle transcriptome profiles related to carcass and meat quality traits in fresh meat Pietrain carcasses.
High quality pork is consumed as fresh meat, whereas other carcasses are used in the processing industry. Meat quality is determined measuring technical muscle variables. The objective of this research was to investigate the molecular regulatory mechanisms underlying meat quality differences of pork originating from genetically different Piétrain boars. Piétrain boars were approved for high mea...

The aim of this study was to estimate genetic and phenotypic associations of growth traits with carcass and meat traits in Nellore cattle. Data from male and female animals were used for weaning weight (WW; N = 241,416), yearling weight (YW, N = 126,596), weight gain from weaning to yearling (GWY, N = 78,687), and yearling hip height (YHH, N = 90,720), respectively; 877 male animals were used f...

متن کاملAnalysis of associations of PIT1 genotypes with growth, meat quality and carcass composition traits in pigs.
PIT1 was chosen as a candidate gene to investigate its associations with growth, meat quality and carcass composition traits in the pig. PIT1 is known as the pituitary-specific activator of the growth hormone in several mammals. Furthermore, PIT1 is a positive regulatory factor of prolactin and thyroid-stimulating hormone beta. PIT1 is a member of the POU-domain family of genes and is located o...
